People should get tattoos because its an expression of counterculture, it helps you show people who you are. Sometimes tattoos can be of someone's name, face, or symbol and that shows that person that you love them because you permanently marked yourself for them. People have connected tattoos with their loved ones, their aren't only connected through love but through PERMANENT markings, doesn't that mean something? Others just get it to be different from everyone else. They should get tattoos because they are known as popular, some ignorant people judge you by whether or not you have tattoos and if you don't then your a "loser". Fashion is a big part of why people get tattoos, is it what influences them to get inked. Others mark themselves for memoriable circumstances, a tattoo to always and forever remember that moment. Some people just get tattoos to get them, no reason in the world why.

People shouldn't get tattoos because they are PERMANENT. They shouldn't get them because important jobs require people without tattoos, and persay you have tattoos then you will miss out of great opportunites. Those people that get tattoos for the significant other, are somehow not smart because what if you and the other are not together anymore, what are you suppose to do with it when your done. Specifically girls should not get tattoos on their lower back because it is known as a "tramp stamp". When people grow old their tattoos may get wrinkled and gross, you wouldn't want that would you? Getting a tattoo to make you seem more macho is dumb, it actually proves it differently because it shows that your aren't a man because you don't work good under prue pressure and thats sad.

1.) What was a memorable story, quote, or movie you saw?
A memorable quote i saw was from the 15-year old girl from Denton when she said "I asked my dad ' do you think i'm going to hell because im gay' ". This i would never forget because i used to think that being gay only meant you liked and go out with the same sex, but now after hearing her story i think different, its much more deeper than people think. Being gay is something you are, its something that can change people , change the world and change yourself. She felt like what she was, was a bad thing because she was so in touched with god, and she believed that being gay was a sin. After, all her experiences she realized that god would forgive her because thats what she wanted and thats who she was.
A movie i would never forget is about Joel and how she turned herself into a man. This story is memorable because Joel saw a document on transgender people and at that moment he figured that he wanted to live his life as a man. His little brother, constantly asked him if he was a boy or girl and i think that it was hard for him to answer but when he brother gets older he would understand and except him. Joel's experience with his change was actually not that bad because people began to except him right away and call him as he wanted. I think the hardest people to like his change was his parents, and i know this because they didn't call him by Joel but by his female name. However opinated, i believe that Joel is a very brave man to let everyone know who he is and not care what anyone thinks.
A story i think is memorable is the one about how the boy found himself when he was just 6 years old. This was sort of unqiue because the most of the people i know that are gay find out during their teen age years, even though they didnt realize that it was in themselves since probably like birth. Manny was 6 years old, with the attraction to the same sex. He didn't realize what gay meant and after he did, he noticed that that was what he was. His parents didn't except him at first and try to make him change but after a while they realized they couldn't. And the story ended with a happy ending, after all the pain and suffer Manny was finally excepted for who he was and no longer had to hide it. Now, i think its possible to find yourself at any age and you just need to let yourself be because hiding it can be ten times worse then just staying true to yourself.

2.) If you could speak to a group of homophobes, what would you say to them?
I would tell them that its okay to have an opinion, but they shouldn't discriminate against those who like the same sex no matter how much it bothers them. People that are gay, have the same rights as someone who isn't gay. They are regular people, like you and me. Their sexuality doesn't change one bit of personality that they have. Dont judge a book by its cover, take the time to open it up and read it. Some people constantly judge by what they see and miss out on something that is good right in front of them. You have no reason to hate gay people, so don't. Yeah, they are different but everyone's different in their own way but being gay is their difference from everyone else. Except people for who they are and not what you want them to be. Just don't hate someone for what they like, because if it was you, you wouldn't want to be hated. So stop being self-centered and narrow-minded and start seeing things for what they are.

How is ayiti different from 3rd world farmer? how is it the same?
It's different because in ayiti you get to choose what main thing in life you want to focus on like whether it's health, education, money and more. And in 3rd world farmer, the main strategy is to contain a decent amount of money by planting food or buying animals to keep your family alive. Another way it's different is because in Ayiti it gives you the option to go to school and get an education and you know how the health of your family is and in 3rd world farmer its all about the money and how much you have to survive. These to games are the same, because they both show you that you need a strategy that works good for you in order to maintain a decent living and keep your family alive. They both have to do with how you going to spend the money you have to make more.

What strategies did you use?
My strategies were to send the kids to school first and the adults to work, for a season then switch their postions up for the next season. And when i saw that their health points were decreasing i would let them rest at home for a season. This was my strategy but it didn't work really well because the game didn't go so well for me afterwards, i lost a lot of money, and the health points decreased.

Why do parents choose to devote so much effort to sending their children to school? What obstacles did you face in trying to keep them in school?
Parents devote so much time in sending their children to school because even though it may be boring it is important that people have a education because without one how can you get a good job with good pay. The only way to get that is with background knowledge and experience and you get that from school and school is where you get your education. Parents put so much effort to this because they want you to do good , and stay out of trouble , have fun and learn new things. One of the obstacles i faced trying to keep them in school was the decreasement of the money because going to school cost lots of money and without money i wasn't capable of maintaining a decent living.

What would the "lower east side game" look like? What choices would your family have to make ? What obstacles would stand in your way?
The lower east side game would be realistic and more complicated. The choices my family would have to make would be hard ones to balance out health, money, happiness, and education. We would struggle at times but would always pull through. I think if their was such a game i would win it, because it's just like life the decisions you make is what decides your future so choose them carefully.

I picked answer C which was to ask the person first and the reaction would say it all , i picked this answer because the other answers didn't make sense and were dumb. If i thought someone was cheating on me i would just ask them honestly because if i did the only things they would be a waste of time and ruin what me and the person had.

I would care if my friends know my password because they could put something dumb up there that can hurt someone or even write something wrong about me and other things that would make me regret i gave them the password but on the other hand, it really wouldn't matter because i don't have nothing to hide. I do not have facebook, so i cannot answer this question but when i used to have it yeah i didn't care if people look at my pages like i said before nothing to hide. If you don't want it to be seen then don't put it on the internet.

um, i don't have a strategy because i didn't do well, i tried my best but the game just wasn't for me so i sucked at it.

Sexting is dangerous, and recently i been acknowledged that it's illegal. I know you think that it's cute and cool to send half naked pics to seem like you look sexy but it's really dumb. For the girls, sending naked pic to a boy that you believe you love or like odee is rediculous because usualy it happens to people that only been going out with a person for a short amount of time. Trust me , he probably just want to show it to his boys and be like "oh look what she send me", how embarrassed you going to be. Looking like a smut to your friends along with his. I've seen it happen to someone before. To all girls, take decent pictures that can also be sexy but naked or half naked pictures make u seem trashy. And having pics of other girls are not as cool as it seems because you can get arrested. 1. The bathrooms have no doors with little privacy, leaving people to be assaulted and harassed. In the medical facilities you have no respect, to get treated you would have to wait days. The cells are dirty and all you have is a bed, some cells you have to share with tons of people making it easier to get sick. In solitary confinement, you are alone in a small room with nothing but a bed to sleep on. The food they give you makes you sick.

2.Playing this game made me feel sad knowing that we as a country do this to people that wasn't born here, it made me realize that our country as a society can be really cruel. After playing this i realized that they make these people suffer just because they came to this country looking for opportunity and finding the opposite.

3. I think the U.S should let anyone that comes into the country become a citizen if they take the test, they should give them a chance before they judge a book by its cover. And if they see that the fellow immigrants are messing up they could get to have a chance to go back to their country with their family.

4.I found out that boubacar's death wasn't a accident it was on purpose, i think the people that work in the detention center did this to him and made it look like it was all him.

5. I would improve this game by a lot, first i would let them choose their own character like if they could be a person there as an immigrant or a person that works their like an officer to see both sides of the story. Then, i would have the information change every time and not make it only talk but action as well.

-I wonder why this civil war went on so long? Why didn't someone stop this tragedy sooner?

Did u think that the sweatshops was a sad story? But, did you hear about blood diamonds which is a sadder story? Okay, you must know about diamonds the things people buy to give to someone or for themself. But why they called blood diamonds, why not regular diamonds? This is because someone died for that diamond that you wear or someone you know wears. Rebels in Seirra Leone named RUF which stands for Relvolutionary United Front terriorized women,men and children in that country. They raped the women and children then killed them and the men had to dig for diamonds at gunpoint. One of there trademarks is to cut of the limbs of these people that fought back or disobeyed. As these men dig for diamonds, they are only paid in food for that day and if they do find a diamond they are to give it to RUF and are paid $2. These RUF soilders fed drugs to the men to brain wash them so they could join them in there horrible ways. The civil war to control Seirra Leone was RUF against the government, for over 10 years. There's this song called "Diamonds are forever" by kanye west, maybe you've heard it. I've heard it multiply times before but never really listened to the lyrics but know that i've did i realized that it talks about blood diamonds. So, know that you've heard about where the diamonds come from maybe next time you will think twice about buying one or excepting it.

1. If it were up to you to make the decision, would you let the sweatshop workers become legal U.S. citizens? Why or why not?
I think i would probably let them be citizens because the constitution states that everyone has equal rights, now why can't they ? If they were citizens they would be able to have normal jobs like everyone else, be able to maintain a decent living, and get an education. Maybe, i'll let them become citizens if they can live up to it, like if they deserve to become apart of the united states.
2. Describe a moment in from parts 1, 2, or 3 of this movie that you found particularly memorable? Why?
The part that i think was particularly memorable was when the two u.s citizens lived the life of a immigrant thats works in a sweatshop, it was memorable because they lived as if they were in their shoes and these people realized how bad it was and tried to help. The two people tried to fight for them by letting people know what's going on and how we could stop them, if though it didn't work they made an effort to try.

3. By the end of part 3, the protestors seem to be giving up hope. If you were able to speak to the group, what would you say to them to inspire them to keep going?
i would say " don't give up!, come on you can do this, even though it might mean death or the lost of your job at least you tried. Martin Luther King fought for his rights and look at us now mostly everyone gets along. These people made a difference and so can you. All of you joined as one can change things only if you use bravery, and percervervence."

1. Who does Forever 21 blame for the sweatshops? Why?
Forever 21 blames their contractors because they claim that they didn't know who the contractors where hiring, how much they were paying them, the conditions that the immigrants where working under.
2. What’s wrong with Forever 21′s argument?

Forever 21's argument is wrong because they claim they didn't know but now that they do why didn't things change? In addition, they say that its the contractors fault but they the ones that hired them to hire other people so basically it's their fault, and if they want it to change they should give the contractor more money so that he could give the hard working immigrants more money.

3. Why do the workers continue to protest even if it means they might lose their jobs?

They continue to protest even though it means losing their jobs because they feel as if they should at least get some rights by raising their salaries by even a little bit. They feel that their parents told them to fight for their rights and they will even if it means death. The only them that is making them fight back is their hope and chance of getting their diginity back.

1. How is the life of sweatshop workers in L.A. the same as those in Indonesia? How is it different?
It's the same because they both have to work hard and the factories don't ask for papers. The difference is that they don't work 15 hours like they do in indonesia, in L.A they work 12 hours. Another difference is that they work ironing, making, and things dealing with clothing unlike in indonesia they work with sneakers. Sometimes in L.a they would have to take their work home but in Indonesia they work in factories. Unlike, in Indonesia the L.A workers are able to spend time with their children or even see them because most of the workers are working at home.

2. Why is it that poor immigrants (newcomers) end up working at sweatshops? Why don’t they work as lawyers or doctors or at Mcdonalds?

Immigrants end up working at sweatshops because they come to the United States from their country without llegal papers and these papers state that they can be able to be a U.S citizen. But, since they don't have these papers they aren't able to work as lawyers or even in places such as McDonalds because these careers require papers and sweatshops don't. In other words the only option they have if they want to make money is by working at sweatshops.

3. Predict what’s going to happen by the end of this movie

I predict that in the end of movie everything is going to stay the way it is and that the sweatshop workers are not going to win their lawsuit against forever 21, because if united states citizens aren't heard when they protest what makes you think immigrants are going to be, if they aren't even treated as everyone else. And i believe this because money speaks louder then words or action, and forever 21 has that money and expensive lawyers.

1. How much do Nike workers make in Indonesia each day? How many hours a day do they work? Nike workers work 15 hours a day and make $1.50 each day but after they pay there rent, light , and electricity bill. They work a lot of over time.

2. What is life like for Indonesian Nike workers at home? Life for them is horrible , they eat very little, have to share their shelter with 10 other families. These workers get paid very little that they can't maintain a decent living. They work so much over time that they are not even able to see their kids. I think that that's really hurtful and terrifying, that these sick people make these workers live like this just to have shoes on their feet. i had no idea. : ( 3. Why won’t Nike talk to Jim or Leslie or let them visit the shoe factory? Nike won't let Jim or Leslie visit the shoe factory or talk to them because, they were hiding something and they knew they were video taping and didn't want everyone else to know the truth.

1. What does it mean to “make a decent living”? What should you be able to afford to buy?
To make a decent living is to be able to afford a house , a car , food on your table , and be able to have everything you crave for. Making a decent living doesn't you have to be rich and doesn't mean your poor neither. Basically, saying you are middle class, you work hard for what you want and are able to use the money how you want to.

2. Where do your sneakers come from? Who makes them?
My sneaker comes from footlocker. Micheal Jordan makes them , and some times who ever owns nike.

3. What is a sweatshop (take a guess, even if you have no idea)?
I think a sweatshop is a place in where people work hard and sweat to make my sneakers. In addition, i think the people/children that work at a sweatshop makes less than minimum wage and is not able to make a decent living.

-a mall opened up 10 blocks away from my house and my dad told me to go check it out with my friends and the first time we went we got banned because of our shananigans.

I think they are both the same amount of bacteria because where to they get bottled water from? tap right , where else. and they both don't have any taste unless it's vitamin water.

How is bottled water made?

Well, according to the video it say that it takes a lot of oil, plastic, and energy to make a bottle and the water i believe come from tap water.

Where does it go after you throw it away?

it goes into the trash , then shipped to india and is made into a mountain of bottles that are then reduced into waste , and amount 10% is recycled. i thought that recycling is using again, meaning that they take the plastic and make a new bottle.

What can you do to help solve the bottled water problem?

well, you can use a refillable bottle, you can not buy from them anymore, you can drink tap water, and you can make a organization to go against this.

the most difficult decision i've made in my life was when i was 3. i had to decide if i wanted to live with my dad or mom. i was so young that i couldn't exactly make the decision so the decision was made for me by them going to court and you know the rest.

i miss all the fun times we used to have.

this is crazy how close we used to be and how much apart we grew, as much as we are apart we always close at heart. i miss you friend i'm going to miss you till the very end.

umm.. well this thing about snapgrades is pretty cool. its a better way to have students pass and a great way for teachers to organize their way of documenting and blah blah blah. its a better way for students to pass because they get to check it and see what they missing and ect. well i think its cool and helping every1. because like the comment below said we dont have to wait for our report card to know that we are passing or that we are failing.

well, im a fan of transformers and they are one of my favorite things. my favorite transformer out of the autobots are the twins [mudflap and skids]. they appear in the 2nd movie as the pink icecream truck then they transform into the green and orange cars. i like them because they funny. When they transform into robots they are funny looking and unique.but besides that i like all the transformers and are a fan. well byee lol comment nicely and i will return the love

an idea

I've been thinking about this idea mr.mcdowel told us about. It is an idea that you should think about, what if in the school we had presidents for each grade that gets to decide trips and like the leader of the classes. How many of you are tired of being constantly yelled at and told things by the deen, wouldn't it be better to be told first by one of your own classmates in a gently calm way? comment an answer if yes and no and why. please and thank you
